REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING SCHEDULE

All regular monthly meetings of Local 1 will be held at 6:00 P.M at Roger Brown's Restaurant and Sports Bar, 316 High Street, Portsmouth, VA. Social hour begins at 5:30 P.M., the meeting will begin at 6:00 PM sharp. Parking is available at the parking garage immediately behind Roger Brown's. Contact the Union Office for actual dates and any changes.

ARE YOU THINKING ABOUT RETIREMENT SOON?

If so, you might want to think about joining NARFE, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. This organization represents retired employees and has a great lobbying team. Many retirees have left AARP to join with NARFE. If you are thinking about retiring soon, you might want to look in on the NARFE website: www.narfe.org and check it out.

IFPTE LOCAL 1 ANNOUNCES "THE RALPH J. MCELFRESH JR." MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND

The International Federation of Professional Technicians and Engineers (IFPTE) Local #1 has established a scholarship fund in memory of Ralph McElfresh. Ralph spent the majority of his career in federal service dedicated to the welfare of his fellow employees. He served as president of the local for eighteen years and remains Local #1’s only president emeritus (president for life). Ralph also spent six years as the Federal area/East Coast regional VP for IFPTE organizing, assisting and representing Federal workers across the United States.

The scholarship fund has been established to honor the memory of Ralph and to assist in one his most passionate belief’s, education. The scholarship fund is being administered through:

Additionally the Portsmouth Community Foundation is listed on the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) and donations may be made directly to the scholarship fund. The foundation is #8093.
